Family Photos in Glen Rock, NJ
If you're looking for family photos in Glen Rock, NJ, you've got good taste. This town is one of my favorite places to shoot in Bergen County. Quiet streets, huge old trees, and a bunch of little spots that photograph way better than you'd ever guess driving past them.
I've shot all over this town. Here are the places I keep coming back to.
Wilde Memorial Park
This is the one I recommend most. Right off Maple Ave, big open lawns, a walking loop around the whole thing, and a garden area that looks incredible in the fall. There's enough space that your kids can actually be kids, run around, be loud, without me having to chase anyone out of a parking lot.
Golden hour here is really nice. The trees filter the light so you get that soft glow without anyone squinting. This is my default answer when a Glen Rock family asks where we should go.
Saddle River County Park
This one technically stretches through a few towns, but the Glen Rock side is easy to get to and it's huge. Trails, a pond, wide open fields, little bridges. If you want a bunch of different looks in your photos without driving all over Bergen County, this is the move.
I've shot here a ton and it honestly never looks the same twice. Fall is unreal, spring is great too, and even a plain overcast day works because the trees do all the heavy lifting.
Thielke Arboretum
This one's the hidden gem. It's an actual arboretum, so you've got gardens, little wooded trails, a pond, the whole thing. Way quieter than the bigger parks, which makes it perfect if your kids are on the shyer side or you just want something more low-key and calm.
Nobody's fighting you for a spot here. We can take our time, let the kids wander, and get those natural in-between moments that end up being everyone's favorites.
The Glen Rock
Okay, this one's just fun. The giant boulder sitting in the middle of town. Every Glen Rock family has a photo with this rock, it's basically a rite of passage.
It's not a full session location on its own, but if we're shooting nearby it's a great stop for a frame or two. Kids love climbing on it, and twenty years from now that photo will mean more than any posed one.
A couple practical things
Fall is the busiest season and it books out fast, so if you're thinking autumn photos, don't wait until October to reach out. I mean it.
And here's something people don't believe until they see it: overcast days are secretly the best for family photos. No squinting, no harsh shadows on little faces, everyone's more relaxed. Some of my favorite sessions happened on cloudy days.
If you like what you see, I'd love to do the same for your family. I'm a Glen Rock photographer, or Bergen County family photographer if we're being official about it, but Glen Rock is basically my backyard at this point.
Is it golden hour yet?
Andrew,
